How do I tell my mom I'm not a virgin anymore?

I'm 18 yrs old and I just recently lost my virginity. The women in my family all lost their virginities at young ages except for my mother who lost hers at age 19/20. All my life I've been raised and taught till wait till the right time. I always pictured and told myself I would lose my virginity to my boyfriend once I decided we were serious enough. I have dated plenty of guys but never had a serious relationship. There has been one guy I've had very strong feelings for and one day I trusted him enough and felt comfortable enough to to have sex with him. My family still ask me if I'm a virgin and I feel so awkward lying to them and saying yes but I just don't know how to tell them.. I am very close and open with my family. I honestly wouldn't mind tell them flat out I'm not a virgin anymore but I know that once I do they will hound me questions of who it is and how. I'm scared to tell them because I have no boyfriend or even dating anybody. I don't want them to be upset with me. and also the guy I lost my vCard to, my mom doesn't like him :( lol pls help
