TTC FOR 3YRS W/IRREGULAR CYCLES: ADVICE NEEDED

I've been TTC for about 3 1/2 years now with no results. My fiance really wants a child and so do I.. I'm 27 and he's 30 and this would be our first child, both of ours. About 3months ago I started taking metformin, prescribed by my Dr and he gave me charts, to regulate my cycles so that I can track my ovulation. I'm on my last couple days on them but I've yet to have a regular cycle (only 2 this yr). My question to ANY WOMAN: have you ever taken or know anyone that has, how long before cycles became regular and is this a good "drug" to take since I am ttc'n. Question 2: any advice on any other products that has worked for you or someone you know. I really need advice I'm getting so discouraged but I'm refusing to give up 😢.
