Crazy story - I'm 21 weeks
I just need to share this story - I've had the craziest 4 hours 😳😰
So, tonight at 11pm I started having THE worst pain in my belly I've ever had & im used to painful tummy with IBS - but this was something else I'd never had!
It started off feeling like I had extremely bad trapped wind, so I drank hot water, took some wind relief tablets & went for a walk to try to ease it.
It became so regular I could literally time the "contractions" down to between 5-7 minutes. When I had the contractions, I was SO painful, I couldn't stand, I was on all fours, I tried lying down, standing - you name it I was doing it. I was stripping off, dripping in sweat, I couldn't focus on anything else the pain was THAT bad. My husband was rubbing my back & my belly, I was stripped off to my underwear lying very publicly on my balcony - I was BOILING!
Then when the contractions tailed off, became less intense & passed I was fine. Completely normal & felt so much relief.
An hour passed & the contractions were still consistent & intense, so I rang the maternity triage unit -they told me to get there straight away. Hopped in a taxi which cost £12 - in my Disney Princess night shirt & my Harry Potter shorts (zero f**ks given by now), get to the maternity unit & they have me sitting there waiting to be seen in a queue of women. Then one of these contractions start - I'm huffing/puffing & crying with pain & fearing I'm going into labour or having a miscarriage & one of the midwives comes out & says "I'm putting you in a room right away" because she sees the state I'm in.
Get put into a delivery suite, contractions still going mad, on the button 5-7 mins still. They try to find baby heart beat, can't find it using the machine - I have a total meltdown, crying, wriggling in pain all at the same time. She goes away for about 30 mins, comes back with a Doppler & tries again - there's the babies heartbeat 🎉🎉🎉 hooraaay! Still not out of the woods for us yet though!
Midwife gives me co-dydramol for the pain. These hadn't even touched the pain when I was having these contractions, she might as well have given me 2 sugar cubes instead! This was really horrendous, first time mum, first baby, not knowing WTF is going on with your body, whether your baby is gonna survive etc etc
The doctor comes in then & triages me, so I tell her everything. She then gets the speculum out & they have a look at my cervix to see if I've dilated or whatever.
Nope! Nothing! My baby is still safely trapped in my uterus & he's alive!
So, the DR sends me home with a box of Co-Dydramol. The midwife who admitted me says "I REALLY thought you were in labour!" - me too dear, me too!
Get home in another taxi, another £12 - pain starts kicking off again but I persevere knowing baby is ok etc. Get through the door & go to the toilet only to do the BIGGEST fart & diahharea EVER!! Instant relief!! Just a slight bit tender from all the cramping I've had over the 3 hours.
So basically, my badly behaved bowel & a fart cost me £25 tonight!!
I am so happy & relieved my baby & I are ok but I am dreading labour if this is how bad an IBS attack is when you're pregnant!!! Though some people say labour is a walk in the park compared to an IBS attack like this.
I'll let you all know in 19 weeks 😂😂
