Successful?

Question

Lets be honest what's more successful in the long run working in cosmetology or a nursing assistant? I love doing hair and makeup but I don't know if I want to go to school for it like would it even get me a job to supply for my family? Or would being a nursing assistant do the job better ?

As an RN, I'd say that it's dependent on your definition of success. Sounds like cosmetology makes you happy, but you're concerned about income. Are you planning on stopping at nursing assistant or going further, which would cost more money, but lead to a higher income. That being said, income doesn't always lead to overall happiness. Weigh out the pros and cons. Good luck!

Nursing. The world will always need a nurse. I went to cosmetology school and now I'm going to medical school. Wish I wouldn't had wasted my time. Can't live off tips in a salon or freelancing. Money is not consistent.

Hair stylists and makeup artists can make a lot of money. Especially if they freestyle. Nursing assistant probably wont make as much as a full time hair/makeup job. Plus its more stressful. But its up to you
 Choose what you'd enjoy doing long-term.

Probably depends on your area. Where I'm from nursing assistants make between $20 and $24 an hour. And are always in demand so it would be easy to get a full time secure job. Not sure about hair/make up here, I guess it would depend how good you are and who would hire you. For my area it would be nursing but why don't you check some job ads in your area to get an idea of what is in demand and how much they are both paying
