Doula?

Question

Anyone having a doula?  Im debating since my husband does not want to be in room for actual birth or csection.  He gets quite freaked out so I'm ok with it.  Just worried I might need someone.  I have an aunt who lives out of state that may be able to come but not 100% sure. We have no other family to come and I love my friends but not in delivery room

I'm hiring one and my hubby will be in the room too. Sometimes a doula is just as much for your partner as it is for you. Maybe with her support he'll change his mind (if you want him that is!).

Look at hiring a doula as an investment in getting the experience you desire. I'd suggest interviewing a few and find one that will support you no matter what you choose to do.

We are getting a doula. The decision was actually made by my husband. He wants us to have the best possible experience. The hospital we registered at has a high rate of c-section.. 😕 So we want to stay at home as long as possible to avoid any unnecessary medical interventions; a doula will be able to help us with that plus more. I'm super excited about having a motherly figure there with us without actually having to put up with either of our mothers lol.

We talked about hiring a doula even before we were ttc. As soon as we found out we were pregnant, we started asking around and interviewing. We are really set on having a natural delivery, so we knew someone experienced in the birth process and natural deliveries would be out best chance of sticking to our plan. I anticipate she will be worth every penny! I made sure to ask questions about how many births she has attended and her training so we knew she wasn't just some random person. You can also ask to see their certifications if you are worried about them being legitimate.

I'd rather have the money. Anyone can claim to be a doula, most have little more than a HS diploma.
