Q & A with Americord: "Cord Blood Banking"

Cord blood is found in the umbilical cord and is full of young stem cells, which can be used in treatments for many different diseases and disorders. Cord blood is easily and painlessly extracted after birth. After your baby is born, you can send his or her umbilical cord to be processed and stored for future use. The stem cells found in cord blood are highly adaptable and have powerful healing properties. Cord blood is currently approved to treat more than 80 diseases, with many other treatments being tested in clinical trials.
