cloth diapering questions!

I've known my whole life that I would use cloth diapers on my kids for a variety of reasons - I am allergic to the crap they put in disposables, I was cloth diapered myself, it's environmentally friendly, it's cheaper, cloth diapers are significantly cuter, and who knows what else.
With that being said, I never researched modern cloth diaper systems until now, since I just found out I was pregnant with my first! So of course I have just a couple questions that I couldn't find answers to online :) please respond if you have any experience!! xx
In the past I have told my fiancé that we will be using cloth when the time comes & every time without fail, he has turned up his nose with disgust. Well, last night I told him how serious I was about it and he jokingly said he won't be changing any diapers then because they're gross and confusing. 1st Q: anyone have experience with a reluctant SO, and any advice on how to convince him?
2nd Q: When building a stash, is it imperative to buy all of your diapers from the same system? I'm sure it'll be slightly easier if they're all the same , but how many of you have mix&matched diapers?
3rd Q: Most of the diapers I'm looking at are one size fits all, but I'm worried about sizing on a newborn. Did you have to buy newborn cloth diapers, did the one size fits all fit the new baby, or was it easier for you to just do disposable for the first month?
4th Q: what's you're favorite type of cloth diaper (hybrid, pocket, AIO, etc) and what's you're favorite brand??
Any extra advice for a cloth diapering newbie?
thanks mamas! xx
