Having problems with sex

I have been doing sex with my partner but it's always the same problem with me. We get all excited but when it come to have sex it just doesn't want to go in and it hurts at first. It makes me feel insecure about myself because I want to be with him it just that I don't know if it's a problem I should be really concerned about? Help.
