Stay at home mom's/wives, advice please?
So I'm 7 months pregnant and don't work, and don't plan to work when the baby is born until he's not being breastfed and we're comfortable with childcare. My bf works a server job and works about 30 hours a week and we just make ends meet.
I work on writing a lot, ambitious to publish a book sometime this year. And keep the house clean and of course I'll have 24/7 baby duty.
Problem is, I don't feel like a "team" at all. Everything he makes is HIS money, always. I don't touch it. I don't ask for maternity clothes despite needing them, don't ask for anything that interests me and have stopped asking for things I've craved because it's always met with some comment about how he worked for that money and hates to see it wasted. I don't even ask for what I really want while grocery shopping, no actual meals except the basics because he'll just complain.
I tried talking to him about this. When I say, "I don't feel like a team" or something he just says, "I'm the one that worked for it."
And that's true. But I look around and everything in this damn house came from me or my mom. Every piece of furniture, washer/dryer, tv, decorations, everything. And yet I don't and never would say that they're MINE. Any money I make on the side from working odd jobs goes to "us" which means I give it to him to pay bills. I just sold a $150 tank that I bought a year ago and that'll go to him for bills and god forbid I use any of it or say it's mine and he can't touch it.
I never ask for a damn thing. And I still feel like a burden because it's his job and his money and if he kicks a little at me now and then, then I get to kiss his feet, thank him and not ask again for a while because he just spent money on me.
Is this normal? Am I selfish? I really don't know so tell me honestly. I just feel so bad.
