Iud and another week on the pill??

I just got Skyla Thursday after 6 months of hell on BCP. Not only did I have a decreased sex drive, I also had extreme anxiety, panic attacks and depression. I am so ready to feel normal again. Though, quick question; my doctor said I had to continue to take the pill for a week because that's how long it takes to kick in. My SO is gone for 6 more days on business so sex is off the table. Do y'all still think I need to continue to take the pill? Replies would be much appreciated
