Sex after an episiotomy?

2 weeks tomorrow since my little boy arrived. I had forceps so had to have an episiotomy. Does anyone care to share their experience of having sex for the first time after? How long did it take before you could? I'm desperate for some loving😂😳

No sex for at least 6 weeks, your tear needs to heal or you could risk infection. I had natural tearing and it actually took a couple months and several times of trying before sex was comfortable.

Even c sections need 6 weeks recovery. You have an open wound in your womb. You will likely find it painful even at 6 weeks.

Oh girl....u need to wait the 6 weeks until they ok you to do so. And even after 6 weeks for me....it hurt like the first time all over again!

I had second deg episiotomy with my first and if was about 9 weeks before I did 'the deed' 😂 I found that my scar was still very sore internally at that point even though outwards I was healed. Remember scar tissue does not stretch like your other skin so be very careful. To be honest you should wait until after your post natal check at 6-8weeks as their is still a risk of infection with putting anything inside.

I had second deg tears with my second and third babies (third only born on 4th July) and these healed a lot quicker. The forceps leave a ton of internal bruising which you won't necessarily feel day to day but having sex would be quite painful for a good while yet😥 give yourself as long as possible as it will only make for a more pleasant experience rather than a painful one!

I had a birth with episiotomy and forceps, the cut turned into a third degree tear. Didn't have sex for 6 weeks. Second baby I had an episiotomy without forceps, and waited at least 6 weeks maybe longer, neither of these times was due to my stitches, it was more to do with letting my cervix go back to normal and for muscle tone to come back more, as traumatic deliveries have more chance of doing damage to nerves and muscles etc. When I did actually have sex I'm pretty sure it was ok :)

Please wait until you've seen your doctor for your postpartum check and they clear you to have sex! I work for an OBGYN 😊

You really need to wait until ur dr clears you, internally you still have a wound where placenta was, ur cervix is still opened, and you have stitches that aren't healed. Your at a great risk for infection and rupturing those stitches. Some dr will clear at 4 weeks, most say 6 full weeks before you put anything into vagina. Hang in there

Ps I can't even imagine sex at this point haha. It takes me like 4 months PP to even consider it after each of my births haha

I have like 4 more weeks and I'm right there with you. My doctor told me 5 weeks and I was like 5? He's like or however long you want 😂 I was expecting to hear 6 (the usual). I asked my fiancé how he was doing, and he said haven't really thought about it. "I've been so busy with work" that makes me feel better. I had an episiotomy done and can't imagine even trying other areas. Lol
