Effaced and what?! UK post..?

So I've seen a lot of ladies being examined and being told they are dilated and effaced....

Is this a US thing? Or am I being sorely neglected?!

We don't get checked until we are in labour or getting a sweep an stretch in the uk.

They started checking me at 36 weeks and only said if I dilated. From my understanding, It's mostly a doctor/patient preference thing until you're in labor.

I'm in the UK too and my midwife has not mentioned this to me at all, I don't think they do it over here unless they think it's necessary. 
There's a lot on here I've seen that they don't do here. I wasn't even going to be tested for GD, I only am now because I'm measuring over, but when I phoned to make the appointment like I was told to the person got annoyed because I'm only just in the time frame to have it done!

When I was pregnant with my 2 yr old my dr never mentioned anything about effacement...37 weeks and nothing with this one either and have had different doctors.

Hey I'm in the UK too. They check the cervix in America, they don't do that in the UK unless they think you're in active labour !

you are only 36 weeks.. I live in us and they didn't start checking me till 38 weeks!
