Is my sex life boring? Or am I just impatient?

So, lately I've found that sex between my boyfriend and I moves a little too slowly. We like to... "play around" I guess you would call it, before actually going for it and to me, lately that "playing around" process is moving too slowly or is feeling more like a routine. We do the same things over and over each time, which is making it difficult for a round 2 if we have the free time. Is there any way I could speed things up or make things more interesting without making him feel like he is boring me? Any suggestions or advice?
