Have/would you give him a second chance?

We broke up in the beginning of May. We still saw each other (me going over there upset and in shock still) until June 1st. I finally left him a lone after that. We did communicate a little bit about the dog and bills we still had together, but for the most part I left him alone and acted like I didn't care. July 14th he texted me something random. July 15th he wanted to see the dog. He didn't ask for the dog once this entire time. We were together 6 years, engaged for 2 and we were 3 weeks away from buying a home when he ended things. I have agreed to work things out but I would love to see what you ladies would do or what your experiences have been. Thank you!
