Selfish for being on Zoloft?

Hi ladies (and gents)!

I'm currently breastfeeding my almost 10 month old baby and have been prescribed Zoloft for my intense health anxiety. I am scared to take it because it's a relatively new drug and I don't want it to effect my baby. I don't want to give up breastfeeding because I love that bonding time with my child. What would you ladies do? I'm constantly checking myself and going to the dr for my anxiety and I don't want my baby to sense my anxiety. Please help! Would it be selfish to take Zoloft and still breastfeed?

Take the meds and formula  feed

They can sense anxiety  when u hold  them.  Zoltan is absolutely  not recommended  while breastfeeding .

I'd pick your battles  on this one and formula  feed for your health .   Baby will not be well taken care of if you're  not ok

Zoloft is over 20 years old? I would talk to your doctor about the effects of Zoloft while you're breast feeding. I took it for a few years and remembered it being one of the more mild forms of anti-anxiety/depression medication. Definitely contact your physician.

It does pass through Breast milk. As a nurse I wouldn't take it and still breastfeed. You have to look at the bigger picture. What's going to do you and your baby the most good? I'd say you'd do more good for your baby being calm and relaxed. If your relaxed, baby is relaxed. Talk with your doctor and do what you feel is best. Best of luck to you!

I took 10mg zoloft while I was breast feeding. The dr did tell me it was  safe to take while nursing. I only took it for about 5 months. I didn't notice my daughter having any side effects. This article helped me with my decision.

Your Dr will be the most helpful here. Definitely ask if it was me ide skip the zoloft nursing is an amazing experience. But of course do what you feel is best. I've been prescribed  all kinds of crap nothing helped meditation yoga excersize  and breastfeeding helped me alot.

Sertaline/Zoloft is listed as an L2 by Hale meaning it is relatively safe for breastfeeding. L1 is the safest and L5 is Hazardous.

I was prescribed zoloft while breastfeeding. I didn't end up taking it but my OB who prescribed it knew I was nursing. It's safe to take.

I take Zoloft for depression I started taking it while I was pregnant and my dr said it was perfectly fine and I'm still taking it why I'm nursing it hasn't harmed my baby at all. They said it's completely safe.
