First photos and birth story. I meant to tell sooner!
Hi all! I'm in a sappy mood today, and I am thinking back to the day my little girl was born. I realized I never really shared my birth story. I had my 37 week checkup at 36 days 6 days, and they tested me for pre-eclampsia since my blood pressure was running high. They said to watch for signs (headaches, vision troubles, etc) and to call if anything happened. Naturally, I got every symptom within 30 seconds, but I'm a hypochondriac. They did bloodwork, but the results wouldn't come in till the next day since the lab closed. I went home, went to bed, and my water broke 6am New Year's Eve (37 weeks exactly). Contractions started right away about a minute apart. I got there, and I was just a fingertip dilated. The OB came in and asked me my game plan for the day, let me know that I can get my epidural whenever I want, and really made me feel comfortable. Hours went by, and I walked around the hospital, sat on the birthing ball, moved, etc. contractions were horrible and frequent. I thought I was close. It was about 3pm when they checked my cervix again and I was still at a 1!!!!!!!!!!! I asked for IV pain meds, and they only lasted 30 seconds. They recommended I start pitocin, so I got my epidural. Within a few hours of starting the epidural and pitocin, I was at a 9. Soon after, I felt like pushing. I only pushed for about 30 minutes and she was out! Amelia Was 7 pounds 3 oz, 20 inches long! Today she is 7 months and roughly 16.5 pounds, 26 inches long. She is sitting up and crawling (started army crawling last week).
Post the first pictures taken of mommyhood and baby! This one brings me so much joy. Amelia on the day she was born and 7 months.
