Cotton mouth?

Question

Ever since I got pregnant I have had the worst case of cotton mouth when I wake up in the morning!! I cannot figure out why, it sometimes feels so bad that it will wake me up!
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you figure out what was causing it, and how did you make it stop?

I think it's pretty common. I've read that your body needs to store so much water during pregnancy that it can leave you with dry mouth. I had it a little in the first trimester and now at almost 15 weeks it's gotten a bit worse. I haven't found a way to completely fix it. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Try sucking on lemon drops because the lemon activates salivary glands better than most foods (don't have too many because they can tear up the roof of your mouth- not fun). If you use mouth wash, make sure it's alcohol free. You might want to try a mouth wash for dry mouth. Hopefully those things will give you some relief.

I've been experiencing this since 8 weeks and I'm 25 weeks now. It's horrible. I feel like certain things that I eat make it worse. The smell and taste stick to the back of my tongue. It's horrible. I'm constantly rinsing and drinking water to wash things down

Nope but I drank ginger ale and it's sort of got it under control now

I get that too. I just drink water all night long. I have to get up and pee 2-4 times a night but I've gotten so used to it I just fall back asleep and prefer that to the dry mouth feeling.
