When is a good age to put your baby in daycare?

In the military we only get 12 weeks of maternity leave... After that we have no choice but to put our children in daycare or with a babysitter. If we could financially afford it I would stay home with our son once he is born and go to school but it's just not in the cards right now. My personal opinion would either stay home with your child but if you can't I would say a year at least.

Everyone has different views on this. My view is never which is why I became a sahm. But I get that not everyone has that ability.  My personal opinion is no sooner than 2 to 3 months of age.

If you can stay home for the first year it's better for the baby to be with mom, but that's not always possible. If your a SAHM around 2.5 seems like the right time for socialization and other benefits.

For me personally at age  5-6 months would be best. I can deal with my kids coming home being sick at that age with cold etc. However I'm not okay with my baby being sick under that age and being so tiny. Not worth it.

I have no other choice but to put mine in daycare at 3 months after my fmla runs out. The earliest most daycares will take them is 6 weeks.

Depends on what works best for you but the earliest they usually take is 6 weeks!  My son went at 3 months and I worked in the center he attended! He only went for about a month though and I went back to being a stay at home mom a little after we took him out! (Dad schedule changed and he was able to stay home with him for a little bit)

My first child was 2.5 years old. My second was 12 weeks old... due to my husband no longer being on a different shift than I was.  I'm pregnant now with our 3rd and I will be a SAHM.  The daycare we had our 2nd in was the same that our 1st attended so I already felt comfortable there and had a good relationship with them. It still was difficult to leave my baby...but at least I had complete trust in the facility.
