Laying down?

Is it bad to lay down and sleep on your back?

I believe after 20 weeks you are supposed to stop sleeping on your back.

Im a side and back sleeper and it was basically torture trying to avoid sleeping on my back. I wedge a pillow about half way under my back so im not totally flat and use my teddy bear to support the weight of my stomach when its weight is on the one side. You could obviously use another pillow to do this.

It's not "bad" per-se. However it is not recommended by doctors because of your vena cava that runs along your back (a major blood vessel). Interference with this can cause low blood pressure and altered mental status. However you can lay on your back with pillows that prop you up so babies weight is not on that vessel. I am 35.6w and personally still fall asleep on my back with a pillow or two under my back. But it become hard to breath so I end up switching positions. lol.

They say laying on your back is bad because it cuts off oxygen and blood flow to the baby.
