Depression... And WHY?

Has anyone ever been diagnosed with depression.. You are so depressed but you have no idea why, or how you got that way? Like it was nothing major you just ended up this way :( :/

I have manic depression and that's how it is 98% of the time..i can be happy and then 2 seconds later ill start crying and ill think everyone is better off without me here and that it would be easier on everyone. Ill become numb and my bf always asks me whats wrong and i cant tell him cause i dont even know..and that feeling can lasts between a few hours or a few days for me(the longest was 8 months) and then im fine for awhile and then it starts over again  and

Yeah, I have been diagnosed with severe depression and that's basically how I felt 90% of the time before I decided it had gone on too long and pulled myself out of it.
