Baptizing my child because MIL wants it??

So basically I was at my MIL's house and was cornered by her and my SIL. My SIL asked if I was going to baptize my child and proceeded to tell me that "well I'm baptizing my kids because Kate (MIL) would like it." Of course she would she always has to be the golden daughter in law (long story) So there was no question if I had any beliefs or anything it was just " hey I don't know if you're religious or not but you need to baptize your child because Kate would really appreciate it. "  like seriously??? I just said I'm not religious in any way and I look at it as religion has caused too many damn problems in this world for me to even remotely be interested and changed the subject. I was getting way too pissed to even try to continue on the subject. It wouldn't have ended well. I DO NOT believe that my child won't go to "heaven" if she does not get baptized. How should I politely put it for them so they get off my back?? Because saying what I said to them they totally dismissed it and are still saying I need to do it for my MIL 😡

Let's get one thing straight: unless the baby came out of either one of their vaginas, they have 100% no say into what u should do or not do with a baby that YOU carried for 40 weeks. Regardless of what their views are. End of story.

Kindly explain to them that Baptism is a holy commitment that should only be made if you fully intend on raising your child in the faith and to just go through with it to make someone else happy would be disrespectful... I truly dislike when people baptize their children for the sake of just "going through the motion" or for just trying to please someone else. Make your feelings on the matter very clear but just do it respectfully.

This is a choice for you and your spouse to make. If the two of you decide that you don't want to baptize your child, then he needs to be the one to address it with his family. Just make sure he presents it as a Joint decision and doesn't just blame you for not wanting to baptize the child.

You shouldn't have to face the in-laws alone. Let him deal with them.

You need to tell them one last time that you're not doing it and that the topic is no longer up for discussion. If they cannot respect your wishes, they can be on a timeout and not see the baby for a while. Draw your boundaries now or you will be dealing with this for a long time to come.

My husband and I are atheists but we had our daughters christened because my MIL would've been very upset if we didn't. So we did it for her...I don't believe in that crap, and I can live with a bit of water dribbled on their heads if it means that much to her. But I suggest you stand your ground if you're this adamant. It's YOUR child.

If my MIL was so good at parenting choices then her son wouldn't have been as fucked up as he was. Thank God for change though!! So to hell with her if u want it then ok but do nothing with YOUR child Because someone else wills it!!

I went through almost the same thing with my first born. My MIL was addament I get my baby baptized. I'm like you, not religious and I think religion is the root of all evil. I told her no and stuck to my guns. I refused and that was that. Eventually she gave up trying to convince me (I also had the great grandmother and aunts on my case). Over time she and the rest of the fam got over it.

I have a very christian MIL, my husband is christian, I am an atheist. 
Were still TTC, but I told him, that it is up to him if he to baptize the child, as to me it is only splashing dirty water on a baby's forehead. BUT I told him, if he wants to, he needs to stand up in the front without me, as I will not vow to raise our child christian. I will be there as the milk bar in the very back, but not in the front. In the child's life, I will not bash religion, but I will sure teach science, and if the kid asks, I will say they're stories like fairy tales... go ask Dad. 😂
