BV? IUD? Discharge & Odor

Question

I had my Mirena IUD inserted in June and I haven't had problems until recently. I just had my 1st cycle since having it placed and I am experiencing abnormal discharge and strong odor (similar to BV symptoms). Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any solution? I have an appt set but anything to do in the meantime or prevent in later?

Discharge and odor can change normally, but if it's an incredibly strong change then having a doctors appointment is a good idea. My discharge changed a lot too for the first few weeks but then went back to normal. The odor is totally different too but I got checked out and am completely healthy. You should be fine!

Getting BV during the "adjustment phase" is apparently pretty normal... I had my iud for three weeks and just had my first issue with BV symptoms. I went to my doctor and got medicine for it but now my medicine is causing me to have a UTI 😩
