IVF success with low follicle count?

Question

If you got a BFP with low follicle count, please share your story by answering these Qs below to give hope for many who are struggling with this:
- how many 12mm+ follicles on day 7 & 10?
- how many got retrieved?
- how many got fertilized?
- 3 or 5 day transfer?
- how many embryos got transferred?
- how many babies conceived?

Answer

We did 3 rounds back to back at age 35.5.
My AFC was about 4 a months total - 2 either side. Low AMH too, 0.5 on US measure, 3.6 on Australian measure.

In total, 10 eggs retrieved which made 4 healthy embryos, which we froze (no transfers as we were preserving fertility for later in case eggs ran out when we tried naturally).

Break down was:
*Round one high dose Gonal F- 3 eggs collected, 0 embryos (we cried of course, but 1st round only like a trial run to see how your body responds to drugs, timing etc). I think high dose nuked my egg quality.
*Round two lose dose Gonal F- 4 eggs collected, 3 really good embryos frozen on day 2. 😀
*Round 3 low dose Gonal F- 3 eggs collected, 1 embryo which was the best quality/ grade at 8 cells & frozen on day 3.

We were ready to start trying in May and I became pregnant immediately! We used a digital opk & got busy 3 days running.

Generally, low AMH / AFC ladies have a decent chance naturally than through IVF. You only need one good egg to ovulate & meet a sperm 😀 I highly recommend Jean M Twenge's book & website on the topic.

To improve egg quality...
I took coenzyme q10, royal jelly, vitamin d3, omega 3 fish oil & zinc. Also had 3 teaspoons of maca root powder most days.
I saw a traditional Chinese acupuncturist weekly too.
