My now 21 month old got whooping cough at 2 weeks old. I also got it two weeks post partum. Thankfully we got a mild form called para pertussis but she is now asthmatic and has been on daily meds for well over a year and her flares are miserable. I wasn't offered the shot the last time but making sure I get it this time.

Yea so I just got this Tuesday now it's Thursday I've been super tired and having muscle sorness..  and this is my injection sight so I'm hoping all is ok but my mom had hers swell up as big as a golf ball so I'm guessing her and I have some type of reaction to it I just hope it isn't harming my baby!!!! But as far as prevention I'm totally for Bc if a newborn gets whooping cough it can kill them... and adults can be carriers and not get it

I'd rather get it myself and help protect baby before he comes out than have to give him an extra shot later. Pertussis is scary, as is tetanus. Why not!?! It's offered (and given) to most pregnant women.

This is one that's pretty widely accepted as a yes!  Whooping cough is still an issue in the US and it can kill a newborn, so I wouldn't risk it...especially if your baby is born in the fall/winter season.  I'm pretty earthy but I opted for the vaccine.
