Is throwing your own shower tacky?

I moved 3000 miles away since having my daughter 3 years ago and have lots of baby clothes...but that's about it. All of my baby gear had to go. I won't throw a shower for myself, because I don't NEED anything (besides the car seat, which I'm buying myself), but I've seen lots of ladies say they are throwing their own showers.
