My doctor told me my next step now us to do IVF. I was surprised because I wanted to conceive the natural way. My husband is for it but am
Having second thoughts any advice anyone.

Can't see why not, I know someone who is 42 and she's done two rounds both resulted in preg but she lost both, not due to ivf, she has had many miscarriages and that's why she had to move to ivf. I'm 32 and I've done it twice too, currently 11 weeks pregnant. It's more an emotionally taxing process rather than physical I found.

I have had MANY patients in their 40s get pregnant with IVF (and naturally). As long as you are currently healthy, there is no contraindication. Do consider PGD (pregenetic diagnosis) since your risk for an abnormal number of chromosomes is higher. PGD usually more money, but worth it in my mind. It breaks my heart when women go through all the hormones and cost of IVF and the embryo that implants is a trisomy (like Down syndrome).

I'm the same age but we tried 4 IUI's but failed. (1 chemical pregnancy & 2 MC on my own). I tried IVF but my body wasn't reacting to the meds, so we did another IUI which failed. I also had my fibroids removed before I tried doing IVF. It's an investment but expensive & exhausted our insurance. We had to take a break but all the best to you. We're still keeping the faith to have our 1st child. Keep in mind there are other options, I'm sure your Dr will elaborate more.

I'm 40 and on IVF and it's perfectly safe if your doctor says so. It's also true that conceiving naturally at 40+ is quite difficult
