Toilet seat? Leave Up or down

So who should the toilet really be convenient for? The guy or gal? My SO says I should lift the toilet up when I'm done so it easier for him. I say it should stay down because it's easier for me ALSO the bathroom smells better, AND it looks tacky being up. Your thoughts 😆
