Silly question - How was the "sample" collected for your IUI?

Here's a crazy question! I always thought the man's sample was collected when he went into a room alone with some, ahem, suggestive materials, so I was very surprised that my dr's office gave the two of us a cup and let us "work together" in an exam room.
How did your dr's office go about asking for the sample for your procedure?
