Getting induced

Has anyone asked their doctor to get an induction before the due date and actually gotten it?

My due date is Sept 8, but I would like to get induced (if it doesn't happen naturally) by Sept 1st. Because my husband is stationed in Kentucky and right now I'm living back at home (Texas) with my parents so we need a for sure date on when he should fly back to make it for the birth.

Also, I'm thinking about her future and would like for her to start school on time and not have to lose a whole year just because she wasn't born before Sept 1st. (That happened to me)

Any advice???? Plz no negative comments.
