Am I too old?

Question

I'm 44 years old and have three daughters 23, 19 and 14. I recently came engaged to an Aerospace engineer who wants to have a child of his own bc he doesn't have any (he's 54 ). Do you think that this is a bad idea given our ages? We can take care of financially and emotionally a child, but would it be fair to the child to have older parents?

I don't feel like anyone is ever too old to have children. If that's what you and your husband wish for then don't let anyone else take that away from you. Children are a blessing no matter how old you are.

I'm 42 and weeks away from giving birth to our first. The nice thing is, you have older children who can step in should anything happen to you and your husband. Hopefully you are financially stable, something many young people struggle with that older couples don't worry so much about and bring older there's less drama, insecurity or worry about parenting dince in general we are more confident in ourselves. The only other test I did was an nipt which tests for genetic abnormalities but otherwise normal pregnancy.  Good luck.

I don't see why it wouldn't be fair, your older have more patience have lived and raised kids already you can do it! If your healthy and have the energy why not!?

Consult your doctor and make sure you're good to go! Live your life a baby needs a strong family and love

Not at all! I know some women who don't have any until that age. To me as long as you can financially and emotionally provide, age means nothing ☺️ .. You guys should start the process as soon as possible!

I know plenty of women who have children in their 40s and their babies are perfectly fine and happy ❤️ my friend just had her youngest last week and she's 43 and he's such an adorable healthy happy little boy already. The only thing that would be unfair to the child is having parents who do not whant them and that doesn't seem to be the case for you Hun, so my opinion and advice is if you and your husband want a baby and feel completely ready to start over with another child then go for it! ❤️ this is one of those cases where age is just a number ❤️

Personally I would probably not, the risk of genetic abnormalities is much higher, but that's just my opinion....plus the father would be almost elderly by the time the child was out of high school.

It really depends though most women around that age don't wanna have any more kids due the fact there's more health risk to the baby ect.  You got talk your doctor

It depends, can your body handle it. How healthy and fit are you? I take it you still have regular menstrual cycles? 
I would talk to your OB. They'll weigh the pros and the cons, make sure you are taking all of the right stuff like nutritionally. But if carrying a baby isn't right for you and you can financially afford it, you could also look into surrogacy. Good luck! :)
