Gel manicure?

I just read something online that gel manicures are not okay when pregnant... I just made an appointment for a wedding I am in next week to get one done. Wondering if I should change it to a normal manicure. Anyone else hear this or ask their doctor about it?

It's not that big of a deal. And it's not like you'll be doing it everyday. I've kept up with mine just like I would've if I weren't pregnant

I've had many manicures and I only use gel. I don't soak it off though I wait for it to peel. 35 weeks now and my baby is healthy as can be so far..

Don't get a normal manicure. Duke did a study where they had women paint their nails and come back hours later to test their urine for a chemical for TPHP. The levels were much higher (between 10 and 60 times higher). TPHP is an endocrine disruptor and it bioaccumulates in your breast milk.

I read that the chemical acetone used to remove the polish can be harmful because it has to sit on your nails for so long to take off the gel polish. Is that true? How do you guys get the gel nail polish off? I only ever get gel manicures and I don't want to give them up!!

Gel manicure is perfectly fine . I get that done and acrylic nails and get gel put on them too. Just make sure the salon has good ventilation

I've been getting gel manicures for a while and read that same article 
I stopped getting them

Yes the uv lights are dangerous for your skin #1 
But some research has found that a chemical in the gel polish is dangerous to unborn children

Why take the chance? I'll just be getting regular manicures for 9 months

For those who do them I would recommend buying gloves they sell them on Amazon research has found the uv lights can cause skin cancer !!!!!!

Gel and acrylic are fine they don't recommend you inhaling the fumes all day but that's for nail techs. They will be fine, go and enjoy a nice manicure!!

You can get gel the worry is the fumes. I asked if they could open the front door and sit me as close to it as possible.
