Did you tell your doctor/gyno about your rape?

I haven't told mine about my rape, it's been 5 years so it seems too late. Is it medically relevant?

My OBGYN asked me if I've ever experienced sexual abuse before he ever did a pelvic exam . It is relevant because then they know to be gentle and explain what they are doing and say things that help relax and calm you . And many women have anxiety regarding child birth and pelvic exams throughout pregnancy due to a history of sexual abuse. So I think it's good for the doctor to be aware .

I almost had to have a partial hysterectomy after mine but thank God I didn't.... So on that note I had to tell my Gyno and my doc but on the terms that my family wouldn't be notified of the reason outside of my legal guardian.

I told mine, it had been years but I still would have flashbacks. I also wanted it documented in case there were any physical issues from the assault. I do have some scaring etc

I've honestly never even thought to tell either my doctor or obgyn. Just my therapist.
