Is anyone on Ondansetron 8mg?

I've been told by my family nurse they are given to cancer patients recovering chemo. I've been put on them at 22 weeks pregnant after 4 other anti sickness medicines were tried (and failed) This has been since week 5 of pregnancy. So they work which is great as I can finally eat again but I know nothing about them at all (my GP had faxed the prescription to the chemist so I didn't have an appointment to ask). Is anyone else on the same medication for morning sickness? Should I really be taking it?

I take the 8mg pill,  split in half, and take twice a day,  with 8 hours between. I've been on it for a month or two now (I'm 21 weeks), but my insurance is being really stingy about paying for it;it's a real struggle,  since they don't want to pay for it, but it's the only medicine that's worked for me. It is the generic for Zofran, and if you read online, you might hear some scary stuff. We decided that,  in my situation, the benefits outweighed the risks, and we trust that God is in control. My Midwife mentioned something about a super tiny potential for cleft palet (I'm not sure how big a risk), but our recent ultrasound showed that the baby's upper lip was perfect.  <3 I'm really hoping at some point I can ween off the meds, but if not,  I'm just trusting God that there will be no complications.

The studies that have been done are not in depth enough to prove that it really causes anything so don't listen to negative people. Plus they say that it cause defects if taken during the first trimester. I had been on these since I was younger to help with nausea issues. When I found out I was pregnant I obviously stopped then asked my doctor if it was okay to continue and she said yes. I then switched doctors and she switched me off of them a week before my first trimester was over 😮 I'm due in 3 days and baby girl is perfectly healthy!

I take it. I'm 20 weeks with quadruplets and would still be puking if I didn't take that every day!

It's just a higher dose of Zofran. I give it all the time for non cancer patients. Your fine

Take it as little as possible as it has been know to cause some types of birth defects if you take it too much.
