Migraines?

Does anyone else get horrible migraines because of or near their periods? If so does anyone have any remedies?

I would talk to your doctor about these migraines, it should definitely get looked into but in the meantime I suggest:

1. Get a blood test to check your vitamin levels. Particularly iron levels if you find that these only occur close to your period. Deficiencies can cause fatigue, migraines and general feeling shit but it's possible that when you've got your period you're losing too much of it.
I used to have to take iron tablets only when Aunt Flo came to town.

2. It may also be caused by blood pressure and dehydration. Some people experience a drop in their blood pressure when their bodies are exposed to physical stress (ie your period) or are severely dehydrated (losing bodily fluids can do that to you). Your brain isn't getting enough oxygen from your blood which is causing the migraines. I find when this happens to me I drink a full bottle of water every 1-2 hours (Powerade helps as a quick boost but it's packed with sugar), add lots of salt to my food and lay on my back with my feel elevated, either on a mountain of pillows or against a wall. This helps to increase blood flow.

I've been getting them more frequently now. I'm taking Imitrex from my dr. Even though he was hesitant to give them to me because I'm only 20. They don't really help so now I'm probably going to see a neurologist to help me out. Vomiting and sleep usually helps me

I get them near my period. Had one all day today. I tried to sleep it off but that didn't work, so I took some Tylenol and drank lots of water before laying down in bed because I felt nauseous sitting up. I feel asleep for 4 hours. Woke up with a slight headache, took 2 Tylenol, ate dinner, and I felt a lot better.

I get migraines all the time. Literally nothing helps them. I try sleeping basically the whole day away in a dark quiet room. But sometimes they're so horrible they make me vomit and I sometimes feel better after that.
