do i need noise machine and video monitor

Im a ftm. I have reas that a white noise machine helps babies sleep. Are they necessary or helpful? 
Also do I need a video monitor?

We keep a fan in the corner of my daughter's room. It's a small one that we even take with us on vacations and the noise helps her sleep.

We use a free white noise app (sleepy sounds) for almost every sleep - bubs is 4mo and it helps her settle. Worked so well when she was little. And I love our visor monitor, stops me having to go in there and check on her - sometimes she makes noises in her sleep and if it was sound only id be in there all the time

I have both and while you don't need a video monitor, at least get a regular sound monitor. Even if baby sleeps in your room (our baby does) we put her down around 9pm and then hang out for an hour or two in the living room. We use the video monitor during that time. Our toddler has always had a sound machine to sleep and she's almost 3, we still use it. Bought another one for the baby to use in our bedroom because I think it helps build a sleep routine.

I got a white noise app and we left the iPad in our daughters room. No video monitor for us.

Our 9 month old sleeps in her crib in our room so we have no need for a monitor but we are planning on moving her into her own room when it gets closer to this baby's due date and will get a video monitor. My friend still uses one for his 3 yr old says its the best thing ever. We have a fan which we use for white noise.  When we go away on vaction I take a white noise machine for her. I don't know if it helps but I'd rather have it.

I use a white noise machine but not sure if it's helped my son sleep longer or anything. He still doesn't sleep for too long. However, I'm obsessed with the video monitor and check on him frequently with it. So, I would definitely suggest getting a monitor.

-for a noise machine if you chose to use, use a noise machine app on your phone or a video on your laptop does just the same purpose. You can even get a soundtrack and put it into a CD player.

- monitor is not at all necessary but a good to have if you plan to be in the other room while baby is sleeping. It depends on your set up and what makes you comfortable.
