Gestational diabetes?

Question

What are some things that are good to eat or bad to eat (besides the obvious junk food) when you have gestational diabetes? I have one appointment already set with a dietary person on wends, and still waiting for the nutritionist to call me so just looking for some tips until I have my appointment. Anything is helpful!

I lost ten pounds in my third trimester on the gestational diabetes diet. Ezekiel bread, almond butter, hard boiled eggs, protein shakes, salads, quinoa or brown rice bowls(with kale, onion, liquid aminos) and chicken were my go to's. Apples and beets really spiked my sugars.

You should keep your carbs between 15-30g per snack and meal

I would say it depends. Are you testing your sugars? What were the parameters your doctor gave you? For me, I am taking metformin to help but my doctor wants my fasting sugars <90 and <140 1hr after every meal. I'm able to eat most food in moderation. Certain carbs spike my sugar while others don't. It's a test and adjust system. If it's up I eat something with a lot of protein and drink more water. I try to stay away from anything with more than 20g of carbs and the obvious desserts and sugary drinks. Good luck!
