Will your baby be bathed immediately after birth?

There are new studies that say vernix caseosa, the waxy coating on newborns’ skin, is a natural moisturizer and cleanser, and protects against infection. it's recommended that the baby not be bathed for the first 24 hours, but rather just be given wipe down. What is your take on this? Will your baby get a bath immediately?

I think it depends on how I feel after birth. If I want him cleaned I will ask, if not I won't. If they ask me I guess I'll make a decision right then lol

My baby will be born in the birthing pool, as for an actual bath I usually wait a couple of days but I do wash their hair over the sink so it's all clean and fluffy 😄

Most hospitals wait now to give baby their first sponge bath. I never had to ask my hospital, it was just protocol.

When you take your hospital tour ask them what they automatically do and then make your request.

My hospital doesn't do this anymore they said bathing right away is an old practice and they will be bathes after the 24 hour mark.

Mine gets wiped off and bathed several hours later. They give me the option to do it myself but since I have csections, the nurses usually do the next morning.
