VERY nervous and frustrated!!! 😩
So Monday at my two week appointment with my OB, I told him about some pains I've been having and also about me losing my mucus plug a week before. Since he was doing the second swab for strep b, he went ahead and also checked my cervix. And it turns out that I am already 1cm dilated and 50% effaced, which concerned him because I am only 33 weeks. This is my first pregnancy. But he went ahead and gave me a Makena shot, which is strange and confusing to me because most women who receive these have a history of preterm labor and are started out on the shot at 16 weeks and continue it through 36 weeks. I'm confused as to how helpful it will be for me only getting it three times. Also, I feel like he kind of jumped the gun a little bit, since I don't have any history. Like this shot has a lot of side effects that I'm feeling and I'm wondering: is it even truly worth it? How does he know I was even going to go into labor early? And I really don't want to seem like I think I know more than my doctor, because obviously I don't. I'm just so frustrated because my arm still hurts and it's made me nauseous and is giving me headaches and depression. Plus he put me on bed rest, so I can't work anymore and also had me get a couple of steroid shots just in case she does come early. I'm still having the same pains and the nurses say it's nothing, but it wasn't nothing before, as I was dilating/effacing. This whole situation is just so frustrating to me and I am so stressed out that I just needed to vent. But I am curious, will the Makena shot be helpful starting this late? Does anyone know? I will do anything to have my baby born healthy.
