Dressing baby for winter?

Okay... There are just too many options out there for everything..

What are you planning on getting for travel equipment (stroller, car seat, carrier) to protect against the cold? I understand they have mentioned to put one more layer than you would on the baby. Would like to hear what others have bought already for the winter months.

I've always been told that if you put your finger in their neck crease and its sweaty then they are too hot and take off a layer

I'm getting this. $30 at babies r us. I'm not sure how to really dress my son tho.. Im from NY so it gets pretty cold here. I heard snowsuits aren't safe for inside a car seat cuz they are bulky & if you got into a car wreck the babies body would move more cuz of the room in the snowsuit. So I heard you put on multiple layers & use a blanket. So ill prob do that & use this seat cover so the snow/ brutle wind doesn't get on him.

I'm from Alaska and just moved to Virginia and I'm clueless too! I feel like I probably shouldn't roast my child in an entire snow suit  when it's not ever going to get to -40f here. My husband agreed that we would buy the appropriate clothing as it got colder and talked to some of the other moms near us (we live on a military base).

Our first was a spring baby so I'm lost on this too! So far I've bought a car seat cover (the shower cap kind) and some warm clothes.. Holding off on a bunting and such until I have a better idea of her size and how much we'll need it 😬

I have a car seat cover and snow suit for him. I'm in new York and last winter was super cold. This year is supposed to be worse. I would rather my child to sweat than freeze. My second child never "roasted" though.

Please check out the site Car Seats for the Littles. It discusses safe options for keeping baby warm in cold weather. You never want to put coats or bulky clothing on them while they are in the car seat. It can/will compress in a crash and baby can fly out of the straps. Aftermarket car seat accessories generally aren't recommended either. CSFTL has a Facebook group and a page as well.
