Godparents?

Question

So I want my son to have godparents but I don't really want to baptize him. I want him to later on pick if he wants to be baptized. So my question is could I still ask someone to be the godparents or not ?

My brother and i werent ever baptized but if anything were to happen to our mom and dad we would either go to our moms best friend or our dads i consider both of them godmother/father figures not actual god parents

I believe my dads best friend to be my guardian angel a month almost to the day that he past i got pregnant with my son like he passed away and was reincarnated into my son if that makes any sense and he was born preemie and a month almost to the day that he was born we got into a should have been fatal car accident and survived with minor cuts and bruises

But the whole idea of a godparent is to continue to teach and practice faith and religion after the parent or parents pass away but each person can have their own idea on what a god parent is

It depends on what it means to you. If they are just going to be a surrogate aunt/uncle then theres no need to have a baptism. You can just have a little baby party and announce it? But typically the godparents participate in the actual baptismal ceremony, and that's part of what makes them godparents. They are supposed to be held responsible for ensuring  the child's religious upbringing.

My friend is making me the godmother of her child. I'm not religious and neither is she. It's more to make sure the child continues on a good path in life for us rather than anything. I'll be there for whatever the child would need. (Also an auntie figure)

I am a godparent to my nephew. He was baptised Catholic, so I did my part in the ceremony, without any idea what I was doing! Lol completely non religious over here. I can't uphold the bit about his religion (what religion can a 7 month old really pick) but I do like the idea of having godparents that your children are entrusted to if anything were to happen.

I'm not sure what my partner and I will chose regarding godparents for our own child; concidering neither of us is religious.
