Do you ladies think my baby will mind these claws? I really don't wanna cut them, and they've never been this long before!

You don't have to cut them, however you will have to work extra to maintain them as rounded as possible so that there aren't any sharp edges and you will still have to be careful. Start practicing now how you will hold baby wipes, clothes, everything, especially the baby in a way that you won't scratch him or hurt him on accident. You could have the nail shop put an overlay or gel polish that thickens them so that they are less sharp and a bit easier to keep from getting the sharp corners and stuff.

I'm my personal experience I would cut the down. You don't have to cut them off but maybe down a little.  I have pokes and scratched before not meaning too...

Omg yes.. cut them! You will be scratching that babys butt while wiping if you don't.. Im about to have my 3rd baby, trust me.

As a cna we are not allowed to have long fingernails since the elderly have such delicate skin....so I view infant skin as the same. I'd be too afraid of scratching my baby with long fingernails...plus a lot of dirt and bacteria can get trapped under them so be sure you practice really good hand hygiene if you keep them long.

My personal experience. I had my nails done with my older kids and I ended up scratching them during diaper changing (unintentionally of course). So I ended up taking off the acrylic nails and cutting my real nails very short. This time around I'm keeping them natural and short to avoid any scratches.

My nails grow really fast and I had them fairly long with my first and I always scratched him on accident :( their skin is so sensitive and it seemed like the slightest brush of my nails left an irritated red mark. I always felt so bad because it was never on purpose, but it was enough to cause me to keep my nails short. That's just me though! I'm sure some women are better at handling newborns with their nails than I was!

My mother never cut hers. They were long natural square shaped as are mine. My sisters and I still remind her how she would scratch us by accident randomly. :/
