Anyone been induced before?

Question

I'm being induced next week and I can't stop thinking about what's going to happen. This is my first pregnancy and I'm not even sure what they do to induce you. Anybody on here like to share what happened when they were induced??

I was induced at 38 weeks with my son, went to a Dr visit at 11am and was having some high BP issues that we had been watching for a week, mutually decided labor sooner than later was better for both of us. Was told to report to hospital, went ate lunch grabbed my bags and got to hospital at 1pm. Placed cytotek pill at 2pm, I was not effaced or dilated at all. Contractions started up by 4pm by 9pm I was 1cm, by 11pm the pain was horrid, I labored through the night and got two shots of fetanyl to ease the pain so I could catch about an hour of sleep, 5am Dr showed up and I was 3cm and having coupling contractions, okayed me for epidural. Got my epidural (Heaven!!) and was checked at 6am and 4cm, intern came in to break my water, an hour later at 7am for my check the nurse noticed my water was still in tact but I was 5cm, a hospital midwife came in and ruptures my water, by noon I was 6cm, by 2pm I was 7cm and had stalled out, we started a slow pitocin drip to keep strong contractions. Had to have my epidural redone because it was getting a hot spot on the right of my belly, I did hands and knees for an hour and tried to rest as much as possible. 7pm and still 7cm told if I wasn't an 8 by 8pm we would talk C section 8pm came and my nurse basically forced me to an 8 and requested more time. She left and said she would be back in an hour to check me and about 15 min after she left I pushed my call button and said I have to push, I did a few practice pushes and then we waited for my Dr to come in, I pushed for about 30 min and at 9:03pm my 7lb 1oz baby boy was born after 29 hours of labor. He had the best apgars and zero jaundice, we were absolutely in love and I'd have done all of this over again because it turned out great. However I'm trying to go into labor naturally this time and am currently 38+1 with a baby girl :)

I was induced with my first at 39 weeks. (Due with my second next week) in my experience  the pain went from nothing to intense very quickly and I had quite a quick labour and painful so I had an epidural and the pain was gone instantly. Don't really know how it would of compared to not being induced but I think my body was ready to go into labour soon anyway.

I was induced with my first at 41 weeks. I went in at about 10 p.m. because my doctor called and asked if I wanted to go ahead and get things started but I told him I was on my way to get dinner first. I got there and they started pitocin right away. I couldn't feel contractions until about 3 hours after they started it. Then 2-3 hours later broke my water. He was born at 8:30 a.m. after pushing for only 19 minutes. It was relatively fast and smooth for me.

With my first I was 39 weeks and 3 days and still has not effaced or dilated, and blood pressure sky rocketed so Dr decided it would be best if we induced that day. So 5pm I went back I to the hospital. The plan was cervadil, pitocin, then breaking my water.. Cervadil started immediately when we got there and got settled in. Stayed there til late that evening and contractions started on there own so I didn't even need pitocin bc they came on so strong. Then a few hours later they came in to break my water and when the nurse said to "frog" my legs, I did so and my water broke on its own! I was about 6cm then and within 2 hours went from 6 to 9cm and felt the urge to go to the bathroom. So got up with help and went, the moment I sat down I felt the urge to push and freaked. My husband yelled at me to get off the toilet lol and my mother in law went to get the nurse. I was checked and was completely dilated!! In less then 15mins. I hadn't even had time to have the Dr come do the epidural. He showed up about 5mins before my Dr came in and did it and I pushed for like 17mins and my little guy was born! 14.5hours of labor. 💙 getting induced tomorrow again with my daughter, will be 39weeks and 1day. Already dilated to 2cm and 100% effaced so not doing cervadil this time around just going right to pitocin! We will see how this labor goes! Hopefully my water will break on its own again :) BEST OF LUCK!!!

I was given pitocin with my last pregnancy. I hated everything about it. Felt like fire and my contractions were so strong

I'm getting induced too at 39 weeks. My midwife explained it's a pessary at 8am then if nothing progresses by 8am the next morning your waters get broken. Then started on oxytocin. Every hospital is different I suppose.

Good to see other women progressed quickly though being induced. The way it was explained to me that it will go on for days.

I haven't been induced before but I have an induction scheduled next week at 39 weeks.  This is what the Dr told me: go to hospital at 7 pm, a medicine called cervadil is placed that softens the cervix up and starts the dilation during this time you can sleep and thia is until 7 am. Then you get a light breakfast and shower before they break your water and start pitocin... Depending on how dilated you are at that point it could be 12 more hours of labor... He also said that there is an increased chance of c section if the baby isn't tolerating it or if you dont progress...

Yes, definitely different for all. I was induced with my first. I went into labor totally clueless about pitocin. I had been dilating gradually starting at 36 weeks. At 38 weeks my amniotic fluid was very low and so I had to be induced. I was dilated 5.5cm (luckily still no pain) when I got induced at about 7:30pm. They had to break my water, but that didn't really help move it along. My full on active painful labor began at about 10-11pm and at that time I was dilated 9cm. It took about 5-6 hours to open 1 more centimeter to be at 10cm. I delivered my baby boy at 4:52am. I didn't get the epidural and that might have helped shortened labor. Having a good support team (this includes the nurse) helps throughout labor & delivery. I only wanted my husband in the room and that was perfect. Wishing you the best!

I have been induced before and will most likely be induced again. With me they started me on an IV drip and then slowly added Pitocin into it. My contractions gradually became more intense and closer together. I had to have my water broken as well so when that happened it was game on! The contractions were VERY intense. I got an epidural that my body burned through pretty quickly and then I had my daughter. Total I labored for 24 hours exactly and pushed for 45 minutes before she was born. I read somewhere that Pitocin can lengthen your labor and make your contractions more painful. I don't know how true that is because I have only ever been induced. I am due to be induced with this one as well and am doing everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen but it really is out of our control.
