Cervical checks?

Hello all! I'm 35 weeks today. My doc mentioned that from now on as I'll have weekly appointments. They'll be doing cervical checks at every appointment... A couple of my friends scared the crap out of me and I'm stressed now. Can someone please give me a heads up on what to expect when it comes to cervical checks? How is it done? Thank you!!

You undress from waist down and the doctor will insert 2 lubricated fingers and feel for your cervix. It may be a little uncomfortable but not painful. Nothing to worry about. I found it painful when I was in active labor and they kept checking my cervix.

I actually posted this exact question a few days ago. I'm also 35 weeks and had my cervix checked yesterday. He just stuck his finger in there. The best comment compared it to a deep fingering. It was quick. Didn't hurt. He said he could easily fit his whole finger in there and I was 1 cm dilated already. Although quick and painless I was a bit achy after. I had mild contractions for a couple of hours but besides the pelvic pressure I was already having, I'm all good. Next week we'll get a song and see how big baby is 😁

I find them really uncomfortable and painful since my cervix is kind of high up so they have to put so much pressure on me to be able to reach and see how far dilated I am. They might be different for you but I think the way it feels just depends on if your cervix is high or low. I'm 5 cm dilated and my cervix is is high up. I'm 32 weeks and 3 days.

I find them quite uncomfortable, but it's over in under 15 seconds and for me, it does not continue to hurt afterward.
