Low carb and TTC?

Is it safe to do low carb when TTC? I am currently in the Tww and I have PCOS. I only seem to be able to lose weight when I'm doing low carb. Just want to check because I don't want to cause any shock to my system!

I have been on a low carb diet for 10 months now and TTC at the same time. My program is medically supervised, so I see a doctor once a month. Both he and my primary physician have said nothing about it being dangerous to do a low carb diet while TTC. I think the important part comes when you know you are pregnant and making sure you eat a well balanced diet. ☺️

I'm ttc and have been wondering the same. It's the only way I can lose and keep weight off. Most things I've read said to make sure you stay OUT of ketosis but otherwise is generally fine with lots of lean meats and veggies and some fruit. I would check with your doctor though.

I'm low carb but NOT keto levels, my doctor told me it was dangerous to go into ketosis with a baby...I'm not pregnant but because I was on fertility treatment she wanted me to act like I was. I see her about once a month.

I have read both! Ketosis cannot be good for TTC. My brother is die hard Keto and is pushing me. I am just trying to limit to one or 2 carb type foods a day

It depends on how overweight you are for your body. My doctor is very happy with low carb and said that's it's totally safe as long as we were monitored during pregnancy once we conceived. Just make sure you are watching your nutrition. I do Keto's friendlier cousin, LCHF, so my carb limits are under 80, but I still stay away from sugar, grains, and processed starches.

I'm doing the opposite while TTC and I've been losing weight. Highish carb, no meat, no dairy. I think what's really helping me lose is the no meat and dairy.

Yes!!!! I've lost 20 pounds on the low/no carb way and I finally got my period after 6 months of perseverance! I'm seeing my gyno to see where I can go from there. Honestly you'll feel great too.

I am eating my complex carbs in the morning to burn them off throughout my day and keeping it lean for dinner. Please send updates on how it works for you and lots of luck to you :)
