Sterilize new bottles?

Is it really necessary to boil new bottles and nipples before first use? Can I just wash them?

Confession! I ran my pump equitment under hot water after each use and then finally started putting them in the dishwasher! Never boiled anything and baby boy is doing good! Bad mom award maybe lol

I just use soap and hot water.. Every once in awhile if I have time I put them in the dishwasher.. That goes for my pump too

I use soap, but I just bought some sterilization a bags to use just to be careful

I haven't boiled anything and he's been fine. I read that boiling is not necessary. (What to expect)

After afew nights of boiling things, I started using soap...my kid hasn't gotten sick yet or complained lol
