Have you left someone you've been with for years? 8+

How'd you do it. Did you still love him? I can't wrap my head around the thought of throwing 8 years away. I'm not happy but I love him more than anything in this world.

3 months ago I left my fiance that I had been with for 9 years (engaged for almost one). I'm 26 btw he was 25. I don't miss him, I think sometimes it gets to the point where you are just comfortable with someone. You no longer stay for love or happiness, it's just routine and comfort. I have since met what I feel is my soul mate, I have never been happier in my entire life. Every night I think of how easy it would have been to not meet this man, and end up married to someone I only said I love you to out of routine. I now say I love you and it's from the depths of my heart. Please don't stay in that relationship, I broke off an engagement, was left with  $3000 in debt, had to pay him  $1000 just so he would move out of our apartment BUT I promise it's worth it. Your dream man is waiting out there somewhere, DO NOT SETTLE. And I know the thought of starting all over it scary, but believe me when I say it's not and ull never look back

But if you are not happy - are you sure u love him?!
If you continue it's not gonna be 8 years but 18 or even a lifetime!

I did!!! I had a BF from 18-26. My ONLY boyfriend. It was an unhealthy relationship and I was young and dumb. Didn't know what real love was. I thought I did. But it was just more comfortable than anything like someone else said. We weren't good for each other. I think I became someone I wasn't. So I ended it. It wasn't easy but I have zero regrets. He showed his true colors after that. I thought it was going to be mutual but I was far wrong. He stalked and harassed me for close to 9 mos!!!!

Eventually it ended when I had to get my and his parents involved when he tried to resort to blackmail (we both still lived at home). And since then I met my husband online!! And we've been together 4 years married for 1 of those years. And never been happier 😊 I cannot imagine what my life would have been like if I didn't have the guts to leave my comfort zone. I believe everything happens for a reason.

I read book and it helped me get clarity.  It was called like too good to leave too bad to stay or something like that?? It's kinda a workbook and once you read through it helps you to not have any questions about staying to make it work or just leaving.

I was with my daughters father for 7 years. Best thing I ever did was leave him. I have love for him because he fathered my child, and literally saved my life once, but he was also an abusive son of a bitch. I don't have feelings for him, nor do I concern myself with his doings.

I left my ex, and we had more than a decade relationship. Yes, I loved him, and maybe part of me will always do (as a friend and perhaps, family). Maybe that's why I kept trying.

Do I miss him as my boyfriend? No. I know what he wanted is not what I want. I know he couldn't sacrifice things for me. He loved me, in his own ways. He thought he made me happy, sadly, I didn't feel the love.
He didn't realize, he was part of my unhappiness.
