Blood test for pregnancy?

I have a doctor's appointment next week on September 1st for something unrelated to TTC. At that time I will be 12DPO and just 3 or so says before my period is supposed to start. This was our first month trying. Should I ask to have a blood test done to see if I'm pregnant? Would a blood test even show an accurate result at 12DPO?

They might be able to do a pee stick, but personally I would just do it on my own at home. I didn't even have a blood test when I was pregnant. They just had me come to the office to take a pee test.

AF is 3 months behind. I had a positive urine pregnancy test, but my HcG blood test came back with less than 5. Positive results would have been 5 or more. Each time I took an ovulation test, it was positive. With my PCOS, I was worried I would should 'fertile' but not pregnant. Wth?

I doubt they would do that. They usually only do blood tests for pregnancy if your late and still have negative tests
