My First Birth
My "prelabour" started at 2 am April 11th. I had irregular back contractions all morning and I hadn't slept in over 24 hours. I was exhausted so we went to the hospital. They gave me a sleeping aid and sent me downstairs into the prelabour ward. I slept there until about 2 am April 12th when my contractions (in my back) got too painful. I was only three centimeters dilated when they admitted me to labor and delivery. I used a hot bath to help the pain which I only felt in my back never in my tummy. I stayed at four centimeters from 6 am until 5 pm. Around noon the pain Became to much and I got an epidural. The epidural made it so I had absolutely no pain and I couldn't feel my contractions at all. I slept from around one until three. They broke my water at three. No change in my cervix so at three thirty they gave me oxytocin. At four thirty they checked me again and still no change. They doubled my dose and at five pm I was at 10 cm. I got on the bed and pushed with all my might(screaming so loud you could hear me down the hall). I pushed until 5:17 pm and out my daughter came. The only pain I felt during this was when she was crowning and it just burned really bad. Overall it was a pleaser first birth experience. What was it like for you?
