Can a C section be requested?

Im due sept september 15 and I have an appoitment today im thinking of telling my doctor to do a C section because last time i was checked the dr said the baby is way too big and by the time i give birth the baby can be more than 10 pounds.  Does anyone knows if C section can be requested by patient even if u dont have any complications or medical conditions??

I requested a c section with my first (I really didn't think I was capable of having a baby normally), Dr. Convinced me to do it vaginally. .. I ended up needing a c section in the end due to "failure to progress" and "fetal distress". Dr was like "well looks like you got what you wanted! " You can ask, might not get a yes, but it never hurts to ask.

Ultrasounds are pretty notoriously innacurate, it's really just a guess. Studies have shown that many c-sections for "large baby" are actually medically unnecessary. But, worth talking to your doc about if you are scared.

Definitely ask. And I would suggest soon. Scheduled ones are usually a week before your due date.  My experience has been it was completely up to me to ask. I kept waiting for them to bring it up. Once I told the doctor my decision she then told me she agreed and that's what she would do too in my position. Everyone above is correct about the weight. I've heard its estimate only. Sounds like a very healthy baby though!! Good luck.

I told my midwife I want another Csection & she called the hospital & got it set up... My due date is September 19th but my second Csection is September 12th..

I feel like if the baby was too big they would let you know and schedule a C section. They are never certain about the size of a baby its just a guess. My sister had a C section because they told her, Her baby would weight over 9lbs and her body wouldn't be able to deliver such a big baby. When they delivered the baby he was 7lbs barely. I mean they were way off. On the flip side, my husband's cousin just delivered a 10lb.baby at home in her tub unmedicated.. 😨 I'd say avoid a C section if you can. The recovery time (depending on how your body handles pain and surgery) is harder and way longer to recover from.
