Anyone on TANF?

Are any of you ladies on TANF? I'm just curious how it works and about how much they give you. Do you still qualify if your babies dad (we are together but not married) makes any money?

If he doesn't work you should get tanf he or u will have to go and do job searches and attend classes for a couple of hours. I've applied but I'm single. Depends on what state ur in. I'm in Texas so idk how it works in other states

It varies from state to state so I'd suggest googling the rules in your state. Even though I don't work it's such a hassle getting tanf where I am(from what I've heard) that I've never pursued it.

Here in nj they make u put dad on child support & only get 250 a month ! & have to go to parenting courses every month & find a job .. It's not worth it

It may be different in every state, but as far as I know, TANF (here in TX) is up to ~$300/mo, and you only qualify if you are making <$300/mo per household.

I had that when I had my first kid which was 6 years ago not sure if it's changed much but when I had it if you baby's dad is working then you won't get as much and if you receive child support you won't get it all. Also after your child is one you have to do a work program and if you don't have a job then you'll have to find one or they will take it away. It could have changed I haven't gotten it in a long time but that's how they did it when I was on it.
